DG= Dark Gift (a phrase pointing to the act of making someone a vampire), is a mostly self trained 'artist' who began with graphic art early in life and 'craft' arts such as wood-burning, decopage and metal work. A career in medicine and years spent in woodland and water settings has given the artist a deep connection to organic/scientific topics and materials. Other influences include sci-fi, horror, and anything macabre. Any formal training you ask? When DG taught college from 1988-1991, he took art classes at the college at night. Although he had none of the pre-requisite classes, he talked the Dean of Art into allowing him in her classes. In 1991 DG won the graphic category of the outside juried college art show. He also took a completed a set of art history courses with another top art professor at the college and finished with a 4.0 in every art class. Wearing more confidence in the possibility that his art was more than just hobby, DG launched into multimedia art pieces and large abstract works. Many were given away or bartered. Today DG still produces multimedia work, but also works with digital photography/computer. A recent interest in BDSM furniture and accessories has spawned several large pieces. Keep a lookout for what comes out of the garage studio at 0300 on any given day. The chance (?) discovery of Uncanny Evolution and the open mind of Mark Parton has answered a lifelong dream for DG. A person and a place where his art is embraced. Best wishes to all those who produce and enjoy the boundless world of 'Art'.
